Are you ready to ruummble?
Bartenders, barbers and baristas will battle! Meat packers, managers and Maître ‘Ds will maim in the Aprons for Gloves 2012 Restaurant Rumble – a charity boxing event organized by the Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association to benefit the Astoria Boxing Club.
Founded in 1977, the boxing club has provided mentorship, direction and an athletic outlet for underprivileged inner-city youth. Sadly, after multiple relocations, the gym was homeless and forced to close. Funds raised from the Restaurant Rumble will go directly towards buying equipment and building a new gym.
JD’s has placed it’s hopes of victory with barber Travis “Upper Cut” Goeres. Temporarily sidelined by injury, Travis used his rehab time to learn how to catch flies with chop sticks and to perfect his famous, and much feared, upper cut.
To really pack a punch, Travis needs your help. He needs to reach his fundraising goal of $2000. Only then can he be considered a contender. This is your opportunity to ensure that Travis gets punched in the head, gut and groin – a fantasy many of you would like to see fulfilled.
Please go to the Aprons for Gloves Contenders page, sponsor Travis and then join us on July 25th for a rumble in the downtown east side jungle!
